$1,000 SCHOLARSHIPFASHION/APPAREL DESIGN COLLEGE STUDENTS

Sponsored by the American Wool Council & National “Make It With Wool”

 

​DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 1, 2016

 

THE WINNER MUST:

• Be currently enrolled in a college-level fashion or apparel design program

• Be at least 17 years old

• Create an original design

• Construct a garment for self or for another

• Follow rules for the established “Make It With Wool” competition

• Not be eligible to compete again for 3 years & cannot also be the State winner

• NOTE: The winner's travel and lodging will be paid

 

CRITERIA:

• Creativity

• Effectiveness of design:

  • Beautiful use of wool

  • Appropriate presentation of wool product

  • Workmanship

  • Fit

• Marketability

 

HOW TO ENTER:

• Obtain entry form and MIWW rules from State Director

• Entry Packet sent to National MIWW Director should include:

  • Self Addressed, Stamped Envelope

  • Completed entry Form

  • $10 entry fee

  • 5”x 5” fabric swatch or swatches

  • 5” x 7” quality photograph of the garment on a model

  • 1-3 minute video of the garment on the mode​

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING:

• MARKETABILITY. How do you see your garment bettering the wool industry; who would be your competition in the market; who would be your customer, etc.

• TECHNICAL DRAWING. Front & back.

• WRITTEN DESCRIPTION. Description of garment pieces & any accessories (if made by designer).Description of how pattern was created in written commentary: Was it with made with flat pattern design or was it draped?

• PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO. Submit 5 x 7 front and back photos with a plain background and a 1 to 3 minute video. Video should zoom in on hems, collars, pockets, sleeve caps, and great details for construction. NOTE: Garment MUST BE ON A MODEL. NO COMMENTARY with video.
